The Dark We Keep

Earning DarkSky Approved certification meant going through every light on the site.

 

The outdoor lighting at the lodges, the Bayview Sauna, and the shared spaces now runs on motion sensors, so nothing burns through the night for no reason.

 

Pathway lighting is kept to the minimum we need to move around safely. The colours are warm rather than harsh, and every fitting is shielded or angled to throw its light down at the ground where it is useful, not up into the sky where it is not.

 

The point of all of it is simple. Keep the light low, and the sky comes back. You will find a torch in your lodge for finding your way after dark. Give your eyes twenty minutes to adjust, and you will see far more than you imagined was there.

 

We think the dark is worth protecting, not just for the view, but for the wildlife that depends on it and the older, quieter quality of a night left as it should be.
